A reverie on alternative healing… from the cottage.

DSCN0815Thinking About Alternative Healing in 2013

This summer I had a wonderful experience of unwinding for 2 weeks at a Muskoka cottage on Lake of Bays here in Ontario. The local people call it Paradise and I have to agree. The setting offered many opportunities for me to be lost in thought about life while surrounded by the best of mother nature. I found myself reflecting a lot on my career in alternative healing primarily using Resonance Repatterning.

It was called Holographic Repatterning when I first started-a difficult concept to explain back then. My reveries were fueled by a book I was also reading “Evolutionary Enlightenment” by the controversial Andrew Cohen. I found myself smiling at how far we have come in this field. When I first started, Caroline Myss was turning North America on its head teaching us about the chakra system on PBS; Deepak Chopra was mesmerizing all with his explanations of quantum healing; and Oprah took center stage with a lot of criticism when she launched her new season: “Remembering Your Spirit”.

For practitioners like myself, it was proof positive that important people endorsed the kind of work I was doing, but the truth was that it would take another 5-8 years before the public tide of opinion on alternative healing would really turn. Among the milestones: the impact of Lynne McTaggart‘s reporting on scientific research, including topics related to long distance healing and intention in her game changing books “The Field” and “The Intention Experiment”. However, the counter-culture movie “What the Bleep Do We Know,” promoted primarily by word of mouth, commanded discussions at dinner parties everywhere. If someone could not explain or win their alternative healing point of view they would often hand you this video begging you to “Watch this!”. My copy is still on the shelf! I haven’t had to lend it out in years.

It is my observation that today convincing others of the effectiveness of alternative healing is Continue reading

Haleakala at sunrise, memorable…

Catching the sunrise at Haleakala crater in Maui was one of  the most spiritual experiences of my life. Friends and I rented a jeep and drove up while still dark. A wonderful group of strangers started gathering in a circle at the top of the crater as the sunrise revealed her amazing colors. It was summer yet very cold. We wrapped ourselves in blankets and cuddled with the other brave souls who had found their way to this spectacular moment. A reminder of the power and awesomeness of nature and our creator. I don’t think you could witness this beauty and not believe that something greater than us is creating our creation. Precious!

Wisdom from a glass…

A psychologist walked around a room while teaching stress management to an audience. As she raised a glass of water, everyone expected they’d be asked the “half empty or half full” question. Instead, with a smile on her face, she inquired: “How heavy is this glass of water?”

Answers called out ranged from 8 oz. to 20 oz.

She replied, “The absolute weight doesn’t matter. It depends on how long I hold it. If I hold it for a minute, it’s not a problem. If I hold it for an hour, I’ll have an ache in my arm. If I hold it for a day, my arm will feel numb and paralyzed. In each case, the weight of the glass doesn’t change, but the longer I hold it, the heavier it becomes.”

She continued, “The stresses and worries in life are like that glass of water. Think about them for a while and nothing happens. Think about them a bit longer and they begin to hurt. And if you think about them all day long, you will feel paralyzed – incapable of doing anything.”

Remember to put the glass down. Our thoughts have the power to make us happy or miserable. Choose wisely and repattern your thoughts before they take over. It is up to you…. Ardis

Tree houses are back…

Many children dream of having a tree house. Probably more boys than girls actually make them but that may be a cultural issue. When I think of tree houses I remember fondly the one’s I visited in my childhood. A dear friend built one for my son. It was the center of his empire for many years.

Now they are popping up around the world for adults. It may be a nice escape. Some are very elegant and pricy. Some are reflections of childhood simplicity. Tree’s are part of the wood element energy of new beginnings, vision, growth, hope and optimism. I think it is very appropriate that they are emerging at this time. We need a new vision and certainly some hope right now.

Many are being offered as bed and breakfast accommodations. I think it would be wonderful to sleep in a bed suspended in the air supported by a nurturing tree. Architects are being imaginative and organic in their building. I read that it is like installing new branches into the tree where needed. If built properly the tree actually starts growing new wood called “reaction wood” where the fasteners are put. The tree grows stronger around the fasteners. It appears that they like the tree houses! I can’t help but think of the wonderful children’s book: “The Giving Tree” by Shel Silverstein. A story of a boy and a tree and their relationship over time. The tree gives and gives out of love for the boy.

One tree house architect said that we are just trying to fit in where nature is. Imagine being in your tree house eight feet off the ground. Look around at the beautiful sky through the leaves and branches of your tree. Doesn’t take too much to get a new perspective on your life does it? Maybe it’s the perspective of your child within. Isn’t it beautiful? Maybe the true gift of a tree house is this reconnection with our child self.

I am booking a reservation!

Online series starting soon….

The next online series for the basic training in resonance repatterning begins this September 17th.  There are a few seats left!  This is a special opportunity to start the process of learning resonance repatterning.  Complete this basic training in 6 months, in a small group setting of 8 students …. WITHOUT LEAVING HOME!

What does it take to be a practitioner? –The prerequisites for this journey are a commitment to personal growth and transformation within yourself (walking our talk!) and the ability to read and follow instructions.  Practicing what you learn with everyday life situations will help you to integrate what you have learned.  Typically finding a class near you has been the main problem for many wanting to learn.  Not anymore!

If you would like to learn Resonance Repatterning for yourself, become a practitioner or add this skill to your already established healing practice, this is a great opportunity for you.

Learn Resonance Repatterning –Practitioner Carolyn Winter and I are partnering to offer the seminars online. The next basic six series of seminars begins September 17 through March 4 with classes meeting for 3.5 hours Tuesdays and Thursday for a total of 85+ hours of training.  Optionally, when completed, you are eligible to join the Repatterning Practitioners Association as a student practitioner and declare your intention to become a certified practitioner.

LEARN RESONANCE REPATTERNING ONLINE! No travel, no hotel or hassles scheduling time away. The seminars are taught in a live video conferencing format.  Like a typical live seminar in person very little of each class is recorded.  It is a live interactive format with a small group setting that is very supportive.  It requires a cable internet connection, webcam, and updated computer that supports video conferencing (most computers in the last 4 years do).  Don’t worry if you are not tech savvy as online coordinator Carolyn Winter will have you up and running with confidence!

Is this class for you?  Here are some links to check out:
