Amy Marie Thomas Wienski
Passed away suddenly on May 2, 2015. Amy was born March 15, 1971. Amy’s entire life was devoted to rescuing and caring for animals. Most little girls play with dolls. Amy played “mommy” to her horses, llamas, pet cow, goats, sheep, pot belly pigs, dogs, cats, birds and any creature that came into her world. She studied to become a veterinary assistant at Saddleback College in Mission Viejo, CA. She interned with several veterinarians and animal groomers in California and finally opened her own dog and cat grooming boutique. For 20 years she enjoyed a successful career as an animal groomer in both California and Michigan and was licensed as a wildlife rehabilitator. Amy had a loving heart and always put the needs of her animal children above her own. In 2002 Amy moved all her animals, large and small, to Homer Michigan, so they would have more space. It was described as “Noah’s Ark” on wheels. In lieu of flowers the family is requesting a donation in the name of Amy Wienski to: Living Free Sanctuary, P.O. Box 5, Mountain Center, CA 95261(www.living-free.org with her name on the subject line). We would also encourage anyone who is seeking a pet to honor Amy by rescuing one from your local shelter. “You can judge a man’s true character by the way he treats his fellow animals.” Paul McCartney
Amy was my niece. I loved her. She was kind and trusting. Too kind and trusting at times. That innocence led to her death; killed by someone she chose to believe could be “changed”. If someone you care about is in a relationship with someone they are trying to fix or rehabilitate please be pro-active. Predators prey on the kindness of others. Please open your eyes and look. Really look at the people in your life. Is there a woman like Amy there? If so please do something. Speak your concerns honestly. Stay present for her. Offer her the help and support she needs to safely leave. She may not be able to hear you but you will feel better for trying.
In love and light….
Ardis
