Wonders of wonders…..

I live in a beautiful country. I live in a spectacular part of this country. Arizona. It has so much to offer. Mountains, rivers, valleys, desert, cactus and endless canyons. Almost everyone knows about the Grand Canyon. It is magnificent and should be on anyone’s “not to be missed” list. Recently I discovered another canyon that blew me away.

Near Lake Powell, AZ is a hidden wonder. I was told by my guide that it’s the most photographed place in the world. I believe it. Being in Antelope Canyon is to be in God’s cathedral. I have visited many places where I felt the presence of spirit. Watching the sunrise over the crater in Haleakala, Maui; the quiet water caves of Capri, Italy; the Cliffs of Moher in Ireland.

Yet Antelope Canyon took my breath away. As the light pored into the openings the sandstone changed colors. This one is especially vibrant! Giant spirals with endless complexities and glorious colors throughout the canyon. Nature has an impressive array of beauty to share with us; I feel blessed to have experienced it…google it and see the amazing shapes and colors and I highly recommend adding this to your bucket list!

Wisdom in a glass….

A psychologist walked around a room while teaching stress management to an audience. As she raised a glass of water, everyone expected they’d be asked the “half empty or half full” question. Instead, with a smile on her face, she inquired: “How heavy is this glass of water?”

Answers called out ranged from 8 oz. to 20 oz.

She replied, “The absolute weight doesn’t matter. It depends on how long I hold it. If I hold it for a minute, it’s not a problem. If I hold it for an hour, I’ll have an ache in my arm. If I hold it for a day, my arm will feel numb and paralyzed. In each case, the weight of the glass doesn’t change, but the longer I hold it, the heavier it becomes.”

“The stresses and worries in life are like that glass of water. Think about them for a while and nothing happens. Think about them a bit longer and they begin to hurt. And if you think about them all day long, you will feel paralyzed – incapable of doing anything.”

Remember to put the glass down. Our thoughts have the power to make us happy or miserable. Choose wisely…

The power of forgiveness: its a choice….let it go!

Autumn is the season that reminds us to JUST let go! The trees gracefully dropping their leaves is a beautiful example of releasing.

We all have our reasons for holding onto pain and hurt inflicted within our relationships. The reality is that no-one makes us feel ANYTHING. We choose how we feel, react and respond. Much of this is automatic and unconscious.

We decide how we want to respond when we’ve hurt someone or they’ve hurt us. Ask yourself how you want to feel? Do you want to be burdened down with regret, anger and resentment or would you rather have joy and peace? If you choose to hold grudges and resentment towards that person then you’re giving them the power and only harming yourself in the process. When you forgive you release the pain and judgment. It frees you as much if not more than the other person. It’s all about choice. The ability to truly forgive is never to be viewed as a weakness. It comes from a place of strength and it makes you stronger.

Are you going to allow this hurt to harden you and make you bitter? Are you going to shut yourself off from life and the people you love or will you be free of it? You’re a prisoner but only you hold the key. It’s a self-imposed prison that exists only in your mind and your heart. Choose to forgive yourself … open your heart to self-love … let it go … and you will be set free. It’s almost like an energy force that you can feel when you’ve truly experienced forgiveness whether you are on the giving or receiving end of it.

“To forgive is to set a prisoner free and discover that the prisoner was you.” Lewis B. Smedes

Here’s to Autumn!

All relationships are precious…..

People come into your life for a reason, a season or a lifetime.

When you figure out which one it is,

you will know what to do for each person.

When someone is in your life for a REASON,

it is usually to meet a need you have expressed.

They have come to assist you through a difficulty;

to provide you with guidance and support;

to aid you physically, emotionally or spiritually.

They may seem like a godsend, and they are.

They are there for the reason you need them to be.

A Season

Some people come into your life for a SEASON,

because your turn has come to share, grow or learn.

They bring you an experience of peace or make you laugh.

They may teach you something you have never done.

They usually give you an unbelievable amount of joy.

Believe it. It is real. But only for a season.

A Lifetime

LIFETIME relationships teach you lifetime lessons;

things you must build upon in order to have a solid emotional foundation.

Your job is to accept the lesson, love the person,

and put what you have learned to use in all other relationships and areas of your life.

It is said that love is blind but friendship is clairvoyant.
